The MHFA accredited training courses are internationally recognised, and help to teach people how to spot the signs and symptoms of mental ill-health, and provide help on a first aid basis. The training does not teach you how to provide a diagnosis, but it will teach you how to listen, reassure and respond, even in a crisis.

Like conventional first aid, which MHFA USA is in the final stages of developing the virtual delivery of MHFA, and we are currently piloting the program in communities across the country. Our goal is to make the virtual option available to all Instructors this June.

Mental Health First Aid is intended for all Canadians. Since 2007, MHFA has been offered in every sector and region of the country, encompassing friends and families of individuals with a mental illness or addiction, workplaces, primary care, secondary and post-secondary educational institutions, government, construction, youth and community development programs, first responders, and many others.
